Strata Function works the same way as Blend Function but instead of remapping the entire textures gradient, Strata Function remaps every fractal layer independently.

All components that have a Strata Function available are fractal textures. Fractal textures consist of multiple layers of a self-similar patterns scaled to different sizes and then combined using a number of different methods. The Strata Function works just like the Blend Function but is applied to each of these layers before they are combined.  Blend Function, on the other hand, applies after all those layers are combined. To understand how Strata Function works, look at the Blend Function page.

Figure F1 shows a number of examples of what Strata Function can do. The textures on the left are default and the textures on the right all have generators linked to their Blend Function.  It's not always easy to predict what kind of results you will get out of Strata Function so you need to experiment with it. You can discover some very interesting looks.
