Developers can now use a compact disk to instantly access full retail versions and demonstrations of Visual Basic components. The first of its kind in the world, the new CD, (available on request), is being launched by a newly founded company, ComponentSource and is aimed at corporate IT developers, software houses and contract software professionals.

Issue 1, available on the 1st of March, includes over 100 industry leading VB components such as: PostCode Plus from AFD Computers, True Grid Pro from Apex Software and the popular Graphics Server 4.0 from Bits Per Second. In addition, issue 1 includes the Visual Basic 4.0 working model from Microsoft.

Unlike conventional catalogue suppliers, software developers using the ComponentSource CD can rapidly view and select available components by various criteria. For example, by application category, alphabetical order or by component vendor. In addition, menu options allow users to view working demonstrations, read full product descriptions and when satisfied, buy products instantly. Also unique is the educational benefit provided by the ComponentSource CD, which clearly demonstrates the potential of Visual Basic and companion products.
