Purpose

This page lets you choose various options which relate to processes or actions performed by all members of the workgroup.

Usage

Option Description
Check for duplicates when adding companies and contacts Check this check box if you wish OfficeTalk to check the contact database every time a user tries to add a new company or contact. If checked and a duplicate company or contact is entered, OfficeTalk will prompt the user with several options for what to do.
Also check against the records to which the user has no access This option only applies if you have checked the above check box. Check this check box if you wish OfficeTalk to check for duplicates against records to which the user does not have access.
All users will use the public profile Check this check box and select a profile from the drop down list if you wish to force every user to use the selected public display profile. Doing this will ensure that all users are working with the same fonts, colours and display options. The disadvantage is that non supervisors will not have the choice of saving any changes made to the display profile between sessions. All changes, such as font, colour, list filter, list sort and list grouping changes will be discarded at the end of each session.
Disable public links User links allow users to link different bits of data to each other in order to create a personalised structure. OfficeTalk provides the ability for users to create user links which may be seen by all users. Check this check box if you wish to prevent users from making public links between data in OfficeTalk.
Sending of mail is done by user When mail is sent by a user, several records are written as part of the sending process. On 16-bit machines, over a slow network, this process may not be instant. For such users, OfficeTalk provides an accelerated way of sending mail which involves writing only one command record to the database. However, the mail will not get sent until a server machine (usually the machine holding the OfficeTalk database) processes commands in the normal way.
