SiteStats Live! Overview
Previous  Top  Next

Now that you have sent off your information to the search engines, you will want to know what kind of traffic you're getting. AddWeb will help you track your website's activity with SiteStats LIVE. Once you're set up, you can find out all kinds of information about where your visitors are coming from and what they searched for to find you.

Select Account
To set up the Live start by filling out the information here.
Enter a company name to identify this account by, and be sure to use a good E-mail address, as the activation code will be sent there. You will also, as always, want to select a unique password for access to the statistics.

Enter the websites that you wish to track in the lower right. You only want to enter the base URL for your website (i.e. www.cyberspacehq.com). Don't enter a specific page, or you will be restricted to just that page. If you enter multiple websites, they will be tracked as one and any hits to a tracked page will combine with the rest. This is good for tracking a website that has multiple domains pointing to the same pages.

Click on 'Create' then check your E-mail. AddWeb signs you up right away and you should get E-mail very soon with the Activation code. Come back here when you do get it so you can activate your account.

Once you are active, you can get the tracking started for your website by placing the tracking code in your web pages. See Active Account Details to do this.

Active Account Details

This is where you will manage your tracking details. The upper section provides you with your basic account information. Title, Password, Account Number, Click Value and Time Zone.

Set the Time Zone to the local focus Time Zone of your website. This will help you track your hits in Real Time from your own perspective.

The Click Value is very important for tracking the value of your traffic from search engines. If you estimate that every 20 visitors provide you with a $50.00 sale, you might want to set this value 250 ($2.50) to provide you with a quick reference of what your website should be making for you.

The lower half of this screen will help you edit your web pages for tracking. Just find the pages on your hard drive that you want to track, and add them to the list. You can add single files or the entire directory if you like. Once in the list, you can insert the tracking JavaScript. You should Upload any web pages you modify with this script to your web server.

View Statistics

Once your web pages are in place, you can start monitoring your traffic right away.

Select the account you are tracking (if more than one account has been created) and the type of report you want to see, then click the View Report button. What you see below is information about your visitors in an easy to read format.

There are a number of different reports you can view here that will present you with a variety of details about your customers. What country do they come from? What operating systems do the use? Who is sending them your way?

The Search Engine Keywords Report will provide you with a great deal of information as to what keywords people are using to find your site. These are the keywords you should focus on promoting as they are already bringing you some traffic and people often search with the same phrases on different search engines. This Report will also tell you what the value of your traffic is.
