How to avoid abuse
Previous  Top  Next

AddWeb Website Promoter is an extremely powerful tool in website marketing. In fact, if abused, it can be too powerful. Like so many products designed to be used for good, in the wrong hands, abuse of AddWeb features can back fire on you.

We have seen users of previous versions of AddWeb use it in a capacity it was not designed for. These people failed to read our documentation and tutorials. They failed to take our warnings of abuse seriously. In the end, these people found their websites banned by major search engines!

AddWeb's developers went to extensive measures to help you avoid abuse by writing anti-spam measures into the software. However, there are ways to get around the anti-spam system. Those that have done so have found themselves at the wrong end of search engine anti-spam policies.

To add insult to injury, these same people have, at times, attempted to blame AddWeb for their problems. Invariably, these people have always failed to read our documentation and take the warnings seriously.

Here is what NOT to do with AddWeb:

·DO NOT create multiple profiles for the same website unless the separate profiles are for distinctly different categories of your site. This means that the content and category of separate profiles should be completely different, and should reside in different directories of your web server. If there are links from other sections of your website, you should consider allowing spiders to FIND the different categories.
·DO NOT create multiple doorway pages for the same website with keywords that don;t relate to the actual content of your site.
·DO NOT create dozens of doorway pages for the same website or category of your site.
·DO NOT submit every page of your website.
·DO NOT attempt to get around the rules checking system so that you can submit more often than allowed.
·DO NOT submit doorway pages to human-reviewed directories like Yahoo and DMOZ
·DO NOT create doorway pages that abuse keyword frequency (Page Advisor will let you know if you are abusing)
·DO NOT use ghosting techniques to serve doorway pages to engines that humans will not see.
