When a user subscribes they will be prompted to choose a user name and password which is unique to them. A simple user interface enables you to add or remove files or folders to your backup.
The Elephant is Intelligent, and only backs up new data or anything that has changed since your last backup.
The backup is automatic, at a preset time a search is made of all your selected files and a list of new or changed files is compiled. These files are then compressed and encrypted. Your computer then dials the Internet via your chosen ISP and transfers your data to the elephant server. After this a backup log is created which gives you details of files backed up.
Backed up data can be retrieved either by using the facility in the software or by ordering a CD* of your backed up data from customer support.
