FTP Upload Overview
Previous  Top  Next

Whenever you make changes to your website, you should upload your changed web pages to your web server. This is quite often done with FTP. If you use FrontPage, please read the FrontPage Tutorial or Detailed Documentation in the Help File.

If you use FTP to update your website, you probably already have a favorite FTP client already and we encourage you to stick with it. Use of this feature from within AddWeb is by no means required.

FTP Upload
AddWeb 6 can upload your web pages to your web server for you.

To use the predefined settings from the Profiles section, click on the Populate From Profile button. This will fill in all of the FTP settings required to Upload your web pages.

Click on the Login button to connect to your FTP Server.

Now you can navigate your hard drive to find the files (web pages) that you want to Upload. If you selected a Local Directory in Profile Setup, you will start there in the Select Files to Upload navigation window. You can select specific files or an entire directory to upload if you like.

On the Server side, you can see the current files and directories in a Tree View. Navigate your Server until you find the directory you want to upload to. The currently selected Upload (Remote) Directory will be listed above this window so you can be sure of sending the files to the right place.

You can Create and Delete directories on the web server if you find a need for this by clicking on the appropriate button below the Remote Directory window.
