Using TrueType Fonts

TrueType fonts always appear filled in your drawing; however, when you plot, the TEXTFILL system variable controls whether the fonts are filled. By default TEXTFILL is set to 1 to plot the filled-in fonts.

To increase the speed and performance of TrueType fonts in this release of AutoCAD LT, the Windows operating system draws most TrueType text directly. Due to limitations in Windows, however, AutoCAD LT itself must draw TrueType text that is transformed in certain ways: for instance, mirrored, upside-down, backwards, oblique, with a width factor not equal to 1, or in an orientation that is not co-planar with the screen. A general rule is that TrueType text that looks the same in AutoCAD LT as it would in a word processor is drawn by the Windows system; otherwise, the TrueType text is drawn by AutoCAD LT. Text drawn by AutoCAD LT might appear slightly more bold in some circumstances, especially at low resolution. This difference affects only the display of the font, not the plotted output.
