Finding Content

To locate drawing files and blocks, you can specify criteria with the Find dialog box, or you can browse through drives and folders using Tree View. The Current Dwg tab lists all block definitions in the current drawing.

Locating Content Using the Find Dialog Box

The Find dialog box accepts criteria for locating drawing files and blocks. The criteria you specify can include

• Name, drive, and folder
• Date created or modified (previous months/days)
• Block name, block attribute tag name, and related criteria

AutoCAD LT searches the specified drives and folders for drawing files and blocks that match the criteria you entered. The search results are displayed in a list at the bottom of the AutoCAD LT Find dialog box. Double-clicking on a name in the list displays the drawing name or icon in the Content View area along with other drawings in the folder.

Browsing for Content Using Tree View

You can expand and use the Tree View to browse for drawing files and blocks:

• Click a drive or folder to display a list of drawing files in the Content View area.
• Click a drawing file to display a list of blocks in the Content View area.

Examining Content with Content View

Drawings and blocks are displayed in the Content View area as icons or a list of names. You can display a preview or a description of a selected drawing or block in the Content View. You can also perform the following operations:

• Save the drawing in AutoCAD LT 97 or in AutoCAD Release 14 to create an icon image of the drawing automatically.
• Use BMAKE to include a short description with a drawing or block.
• Use BMOD to change the existing description of the current drawing or a block.
• Use BUPDATE to add or remove block icons from the current drawing.
• Use the LT DWG Update utility to add or remove block icons from a list of drawings that you specify.
