SAVEAS Command

Saves a copy of the current drawing under a new file name

File menu: Save As
Command line: saveas

The Save Drawing As dialog box is displayed. You can also specify a new file location and format.

File Name

Select or enter the name you want to assign to the drawing file you want to save.

Save as Type

Select the type of files you want displayed in the File Name box. Select the file format in which you want to save the drawing.

Save In

Select the drive and directory where you want to store the saved drawing file.

Options

Open the Export Options dialog box.

Controls the drawing index and display of custom objects

Drawing Index

Determines whether layer or spatial indexes are created when you save a drawing. The indexes are used to improve performance during demand loading. Using indexes may slightly increase time required to save a drawing. Index types are None, Layer, Spatial, and Layer and Spatial.

Save Proxy Images of Custom Objects

If you save to the AutoCAD R14 or R13 drawing file types, and the drawing contains custom objects from another application, you can select Save Proxy Images of Custom Objects. Images of the custom objects are saved in the drawing file. If you do not choose this option, a frame for each object is saved in the drawing file.

Related Commands: QSAVE saves the current drawing. QUIT exits AutoCAD LT and allows you to save changes to the current drawing. SAVE saves the drawing under the current file name or a specified name.
