Plotting a Drawing

Before you plot, check to see the placement of your drawing on the paper. There are several other items to check before plotting, including whether the plotter is ready, whether the proper size paper is loaded, and whether the dithered output option is selected.

If you are using a pen plotter, check the pens: are they seated properly in the pen holder? For each pen, be sure the pen width and color correspond to the pen number. Run a self-test to see whether any of the pens are clogged or skipping.

Plotting to a file is a way to save the drawing to an AutoCAD vector format (PLT) file that can be sent to a printer or plotter later or used in other applications.

There are several methods you can use to increase the speed of processing a plot.
