Exporting OLE Objects from AutoCAD LT

You can attach a view of an AutoCAD LT drawing into another application that supports OLE.

Linking Views to Other Documents

An AutoCAD LT drawing can be a server document with links to one or more documents in other applications. The COPYLINK command copies the view in the current viewport or the paper space view to the Windows Clipboard. You can then paste the view into the container document.

If you paste an unnamed view into a document, AutoCAD LT assigns it a view name such as OLE1. If you then exit the drawing, AutoCAD LT prompts you to save your changes to the newly named view. To establish the link and to save the view name, OLE1, you must save the drawing.

Embedding AutoCAD LT Objects in Other Documents

You can select AutoCAD LT objects and embed them in other documents. Embedding places a copy of the AutoCAD LT object in the other document. However, editing the OLE object from within the container application does not update the object in the original AutoCAD LT drawing. Use embedding if you want to retain the original drawing for AutoCAD LT, but change it for the another document.
