Microsoft Office 97 Compatible
AutoCAD LT 97 is a Microsoft Office 97 Compatible product, which means that many of its basic features (toolbars, menus, and accelerator keys) are similar to those used by Microsoft Office. If you
are already using Microsoft Office or an Office 97 Compatible product, then you will see that many tasks can be completed in a similar manner in AutoCAD LT. These similarities will make it easier for
you to use Office 97 Compatible products together.

Office Compatible Features Supported by AutoCAD LT 97
The following features provide a similar interface with other Microsoft Office Compatible products and make AutoCAD LT 97 easier to learn and use.
-
Wizards. AutoCAD LT contains wizards that automate setting up your drawing. For example, the Quick Setup wizard adjusts the settings of your drawing based on the size of the object you are
drawing and the units you want to use.
-
Toolbars. The standard AutoCAD LT toolbar is organized like the Microsoft Office toolbar. For example, you can print a document by using the Print button. Toolbar buttons are available in
small and large sizes. In addition, moving the pointer over any button activates a tooltip, which displays the button's function.
-
Menus. The menus in AutoCAD LT are organized like the menus in Microsoft Office programs. Functions common to Office and AutoCAD LT are grouped into the File, Edit, View, Insert, Format,
Tools, and Help menus. You can easily switch between Office applications.
-
Shortcut Keys. The shortcut keys in AutoCAD LT match those of Microsoft Office. For example, to cut an object to the Windows Clipboard, press CTRL+X; to copy it, press CTRL+C; to paste it,
press CTRL+V; and to select all objects, press CTRL+A. Other accelerator keys are listed next to their corresponding commands on the pull-down menu.
-
Pop-up menus. You can display convenient pop-up menus when you right-click in different areas of the screen. Different shortcut menus are displayed depending on whether your cursor is in a
text window or in the graphics area.
-
Microsoft Intellimouse. AutoCAD LT supports the Microsoft Intellimouse for scrolling in text windows and dialog boxes and for panning and zooming in the graphics area.
-
Property Painter. In AutoCAD LT, as in other Microsoft Office Compatible products, you can paint the properties of one object onto another object. For example, you can apply the layer,
linetype, and color of a line to that of another line or to a selection set of lines and other objects. Furthermore, several types of AutoCAD LT 97 objects have additional properties that can be
transferred to other objects of the same type. For example, you can paint the dimension style of one dimension object to another and the text style of one text object to another.
-
Spelling checker. AutoCAD LT users can verify and correct the spelling of all text in their drawings. The spelling checker is found on the standard toolbar.
-
Electronic mailing. You can automatically send your drawings to others with electronic mail. From the File menu, choose Send to attach your drawing to an email message and send it through
Microsoft Mail or any MAPI-compliant mail program.
-
Information Sharing. Integration among applications is an important benefit of Office Compatibility. You can transfer information between AutoCAD LT 97 and Microsoft Office or other Office Compatible programs
using the Windows Clipboard or object linking and embedding.
-
Windows Clipboard. You can easily cut, copy, and paste all or part of your drawing from AutoCAD LT to other Office Compatible programs using the Cut, Copy, and Paste commands on the toolbar
and Edit menu. You can paste text and graphics from Office Compatible programs into an AutoCAD LT drawing as well.
-
Object linking and embedding. You can use object linking and embedding (OLE 2.0) to include an AutoCAD LT drawing in a file created in another Office Compatible program, such as Microsoft
Word. You can also include objects from other programs in your AutoCAD LT 97 drawing: for example, a bill of materials from Excel or text from a Word file.
