Many drafting applications use a process called crosshatching or pattern filling to fill an area with a pattern. The pattern is used to help differentiate between components of a project or to signify the material composing an object. You can hatch an enclosed area or hatch within a specified boundary using the BHATCH and HATCH commands. BHATCH creates associative hatches, which are updated when the boundary is changed.
You can use HATCH to create nonassociative hatches, which are independent of their boundaries. HATCH is useful for hatching areas that do not have closed boundaries.
You can apply hatching to whole or partial objects, or you can create your own boundaries that define a new area to be hatched. You can use patterns supplied with AutoCAD LT, create your own hatch patterns, and edit any of the patterns.
