DSVIEWER Command

Opens the Aerial View window

View menu: Aerial View
Command line: dsviewer

The Aerial View window is a navigation tool. It displays a view of the entire drawing in a separate window so that you can quickly locate and move to a specific area. With the Aerial View window open, you can zoom and pan without choosing a menu option or entering a command. In paper space, the Aerial View window shows only paper space entities, including viewport borders. Real-time updating of the AutoCAD window from the Aerial View window is not available in paper space.

The Aerial View window opens and displays the entire drawing. The current view is marked by a wide outline box.

View Menu

Changes the magnification of the Aerial View by zooming into and out of the drawing or by displaying the entire drawing in the Aerial View window.

When the entire drawing is displayed in the Aerial View, the Zoom Out menu item and button are unavailable. When the current view nearly fills the Aerial View window, the Zoom In menu item and button are unavailable. It is possible for both of these conditions to exist at the same time, causing both to be unavailable such as after a Zoom Extents.

Zoom In

Increases the magnification of the drawing in the Aerial View, by zooming in by a factor of 2, centered on the current view box.

Zoom Out

Decreases the magnification of the drawing in the Aerial View, by zooming out by a factor of 2, centered on the current view box.

Global

Displays the entire drawing and the current view in the Aerial View window.

Mode Menu

Switches between Pan and Zoom modes. You can also switch between Pan and Zoom modes by right-clicking in the Aerial View window.

Pan

Switches to Pan mode. Pan mode moves the current view without changing its size.

Zoom

Switches to Zoom mode. Zoom mode changes the current view by allowing you to pick two points that determine the new corners of the current view.

Options Menu

Provides toggles for automatic viewport display and dynamic updating of the drawing.

Auto Viewport

When on, displays the model space view of the active viewport automatically. When Auto Viewport is off, AutoCAD does not update the Aerial View to match the active viewport.

Dynamic Update

Controls whether or not AutoCAD updates the Aerial View while you edit the drawing.

RealTime Zoom

Controls whether or not the AutoCAD window updates in real time when you zoom using the Aerial View.
