Supplying User Text to Dimensions

To add user text as you create a dimension

1. From the Dimension menu, choose Linear.
2. Press ENTER to select the object to dimension, or specify the first and second extension line origins.
3. Enter m (Mtext).

   The Multiline Text Editor dialog box inserts angle brackets (<>).
   

4. In the text editor, enter the format string for the text.

   To add a prefix, insert text before the brackets; to add a suffix, insert text after the brackets; to replace the dimension text supplied by AutoCAD LT, insert text between the angle brackets.
   

5. Choose OK to exit the text editor.
6. To complete the dimension, specify the dimension line location.
