Controlling the Orientation of Dimension Text

To align text with the dimension line

1. From the Dimension menu, choose Style.
2. In the Dimension Styles dialog box, choose Format.
3. In the Format dialog box under Text, clear the Inside Horizontal box.

   With this option turned off, text that is inside the extension lines is aligned with the dimension line. The image tile reflects this setting.
   

4. Clear the Outside Horizontal box, or click the image tile to toggle the settings. With this option turned off, text that is outside the extension lines is aligned with the dimension line.
5. Choose OK to exit each dialog box.
