Dimensioning and Tolerancing

Dimensioning is the process of adding measurements to a drawing. Tolerancing is specifying by how much a dimension may vary.

The dimensioning system variables control the appearance of dimensions. You can set these variables on the command line or through the Dimension Style (DDIM) dialog boxes. You can manage all the dimensioning system variables quickly and easily by setting up dimension styles. A dimension style is a named group of dimension settings that determines the appearance of the dimension.
