Using Layers to Manage Complexity

To filter the display of layer names

  1. On the Object Properties toolbar, choose Layer
  2. In the Show list box, choose Set Filter Dialog.
  3. In the Set Layer Filters dialog box, set the layer filters you want to apply.

Select the characteristics for the layers that you want listed. Other layers will be omitted from the layer list in the Layer & Linetype Properties dialog box. Notice that the default setting for Layer Names, Colors, and Linetypes is an asterisk (*), a wild-card string. For example, the wild-card string 1* specifies all layer names beginning with the number 1.

  4. Choose OK to close the Set Layer Filters dialog box.

Only the layers that pass the filter restrictions you specified are displayed in the Layer & Linetype Properties dialog box.
