Regenerating a View

In some circumstances, AutoCAD LT regenerates the drawing display automatically, and in other circumstances you use REGEN manually. In large drawings, regenerating can require several minutes to complete, so it is a good idea to perform several operations that need regenerating together.

Regenerating Automatically

Regenerating automatically follows

• Changing the number or arrangement of viewports
• Thawing a frozen layer
• Changing the text font assigned to objects
• Resetting the virtual screen after some panning or zooming operations
• Changing the 3D viewpoint
• Plotting a drawing

Using REGEN Manually

You may want to perform a manual regeneration for

• Smoothing the visual appearance of curves
• Updating the display of wide polylines, solid-filled polygons, and text
• Updating the drawing order of overlapping objects after opening a drawing
• Restoring the appearance of a view after a hiding or shading operation
