Main Window
This is your basic working area. Here you will find all necessary buttons for file manipulations. Pretty HTML works in single file mode as well as in batch mode. Editing a file is only possible in single file mode.
Button "Select File(s)":
Choose a single file or more. To select more than one file use
<SHIFT>-Click or <CTRL>-Click. The advantage of choosing a single file is, that you
will see the contents of this file and editing is possible. If you select more than one file Pretty
HTML will switch into batch mode
Button "Directory Tree":
For batch processing a whole directory tree. Select the start directory
and PRETTY HTML will search for html files in all subdirectories. After this search you can
manually deselect some of them if you like.
(Note: selecting the root directory of a drive is not allowed )
Button "Pretty":
Will start to outline the source code according to the rules you
specified in the "Options-Window". Processed files will automatically saved and
backup’s of the original files will be created (if "Create Backup’s" Option is enabled).
Button "Compress":
Will start to compress selected html files. (Backup’s see above)
Button "Restore":
How this function works depends on what you have done before:
If a corresponding Backup File already exists (default extension is *.pbak) , this button will be active. Click on it and Pretty Html first shows you the contents of the Backup File and then you can decide if you want to restore it or not.
Pretty Html everytime shows you in the main window, which file has a corresponding backup in the same directory. The Restore Button is active, if at least one file in your range has one! Only such files will be restored. Other files in your list (without a backup) will simply be skipped.
In this case the Restore Button is always inactive, because you can have more than one backup tree and therefore it’s easier to restore them with any windows file manager (see also " About Backup files ").
(Note: After restore, the backup file will not be deleted! So will have two identical files afterwards!)
Button "Options":
Shows the options window.
Button "Edit":
This button is not active in batch mode.
(Note: If you save a file after editing, no backup file will be created!)
Button "Browser":
This button is not active in batch mode. Displays the current
file in your default browser.
