General information
about Backup Files
IMPORTANT NOTES:
Notice that Pretty HTML has the benefit to work in 3 modes:
Therefore the method how backup files are created is not always the same.
Be aware: Like in any other application, a backup file is always created from the last state of your HTML file!! If you are just playing around with Pretty HTML (we know, many users love to do this), don't forget to restore your files everytime.
When working with a single file or with a
range of files from the same directory, all backup files will be created
inside of this directory with the extension ".pbak".
Example:
Source files is: c:\web\mypages\myfile.htm
Backup file is: c:\web\mypages\myfile.htm.pbak
When working with a "Directory Tree" Pretty
HTML will copy the whole tree structure with the original HTML-files, to a 'new created' backup
directory. In this case the backup files will still keep their original file extensions. They
are only transferred to another location on your system. So it’s easy to restore them with any
windows file manager.
Example:
Source directory is: c:\web\mypages...
The backup directory could be:
c:\web\mypages_bak00....
or
c:\web\mypages_bak01....
and so on.
An existing backup directory will not be overwritten. If a backup tree already exists, a new tree with a new number, will be created (e.g. c:\web\mypages_bak01\.... and so on).
(Note: in each tree backup directory you will find a log-file
named "report.txt", with useful informations about this directory)
(Note: you can disable creating backup’s in the Options Window)
No new backups will be created after
editing and after restore!
