Ubi Soft Entertainment will sell the Maxi Sound Cards made by Guillemot International. Features include Soundblaster compatibility, 64-voice polyphony, programmable quadraphonics, 4-band equalization and on-board real-time effects processing. Prices start at $199.
Low-Cost Digital 8-Track From Fostex
The Fostex DMT-8VL hard disk recording system can record 8 uncompressed digital audio tracks plus a full-featured analog mixing console. Specifications include 18-bit, 128X oversampling A-to-D and 20-bit D-to-A converters. List price is $1,295.
Roland's V-Drums Uses COSM Technology
Roland's new electronic drums employ 56-voice polyphony and COSM Technology that allows the drum type, drum head type, drum shell materials, drum depth and drum tuning to be modelled easily. It also has "Positional Detection" which senses the location of each pad hit and allows for the triggering of sounds with slightly different timbres.

Cakewalk Pro Audio 6.0 Supports ActiveX
Version 6.0, available in Spring, has several major new features: ActiveX plug-ins and streaming media, StudioWare which allows users to design custom interfaces to control a variety of studio hardware, and DSP Effects.
64 Voice Synthesizer From Alesis
Available in February, the Alesis QSR 64 features all the sounds of QS7 and QS8, onboard effects processor, and the ADAT Optical Digital Interface for direct recording.
Two New Pedals From Morley
Morley has been showing off their Steve Via "Bad Horsie" pedal, and the Echo-Plus pedal, which combines echo, chorus, and vibrato. Morleylooks to have a busy schedule for 1997. In the coming year, watch for a new wah pedal specially designed for bass, which is already used by T.M. Stevens and Randy Coven. April should hopefully yield a classic fuzz pedal, and shortly after, a tempometer/metronome for drummers. Towards the end of the year, Morley plans to break into rack mount gear with a tube driven, spring reverb unit being designed with Accutronics. Morley is now on-line at www.morleypedals.com.
