OLE Component Reduces Development Times, Saves Major Account

"We would have lost our biggest customer of the year", claims Brad Wright president of Document Control Systems Inc. (DCS). "We needed to send Banyan VINES messages from within" our document control application, MasterControl. The formerly-offered E-Mail gateway provided limited E-Mail system compatibility. Since there was not enough time to tackle the problem in-house, DCS decided to try IDSMail. IDSMail, sold by Intuitive Data Solutions is an OLE Server that acts as a universal E-Mail programming interface. According to Wright, MasterControl "went from two E-Mail interfaces to over ten in a couple of weeks". With IDSMail, it now interfaces with all MAPI compliant, MHS-based, or VIM-based E-Mail systems as well as the Internet's SMTP/POP3 and Banyan VINES E-Mail. This means compatibility with MS Mail, GroupWise, Lotus Notes Mail, cc:Mail, and most other systems. Now users are notified by E-Mail when they have documents to approve, or when actions are past due.

Adding and keeping up with E-Mail interfaces is a major problem faced by most software companies. E-Mail has become ubiquitous. Almost every application on the market today benefits by having some form of built-in E-Mail connectivity. According to Wright, "The IDSMail OLE Server saved the development effort of writing a new interface". When companies look to third party components to reduce development times, technical support becomes tantamount to the success of the project. A major factor in the success of the E-Mail component was the fact that, "IDS was responsive and helpful during the process". The IDSMail OLE Server has been put through exhaustive testing and is currently being used by hundreds of developers. "I highly recommend IDSMail because it works", says Wright.
