NobleNet Web has two components: the NobleNet Web Sealer for rapid deployment of existing client/server applications without code change, and the NobleNet Web Opener for browser-based access to the latest virus-free version of a deployed application. Click the Opener to determine the status of the application, that the current version is installed, and start the application. If the application is not on the PC or a new version is on the Web server, the Opener downloads the sealed package over the Web and opens the seal, then decompresses, installs, and runs the application client.
The client/server Toolkit for C & C++ Programmers
"The Client/Server Toolkit for C and C++ Programmers" shows C or C++ programmers how to approach creating, converting, and implementing client/server programs. The book provides information on Interface Definition Language (IDL), .rpc declarations, external data representation (XDR), and memory management .The book takes a hands-on approach, beginning with a client/server "Hello world" program, progressing through a series of remote calculator, image processing, data-feed, and database programs; concluding with the use of RPCs with 4GLs. A CD-ROM is included, containing four sample applications that run on a single-user PC. Concepts are clearly expressed in uncomplicated language, with easy-to-understand charts and samples.
