Active Gateway

A unique message broker software solution

Active Gateway is a unique message broker software solution that enables you to turn your single-user application into a client/server application on an intranet quickly. Active Gateway also authorizes information exchange between two applications and among several platforms (Win32, Windows CE, relational databases via ODBC).

Active Gateway, Aldea Interactive's message broker, lets you :

• Build Client/Server applications independent of any specific relational database
• Link an application to other applications and external databases over LAN or WAN TCP/IP networks and the Internet
• Design web and intranet applications
• Cut application set-up and maintenance costs on end-user machines, e.g., by eliminating configuration of external database access for each client

Active Gateway includes a server running on Windows NT Server or Workstation 3.51 or higher, or Windows 95, And a range of clients, such as : an ActiveX control for Windows 95 or Windows NT, a DLL for Windows 95 or Windows NT a Windows CE will ship in May '97

A set of optional extensions enabling the server to access external relational databases (via ODBC) including Oracle, Sybase and SQL server, in read/write mode, that turns Active Gateway server into a data broker, produce text files, access Lotus Notes (release in May '97).

With Active Gateway, you can :

• Implement a dynamic data structure authorizing multimedia information exchange
• Send and receive messages of unlimited size
• Choose on-line or off-line Store and Forward data exchange
• Communicate in peer-to-peer or broadcast mode

Active Gateway offers you :

• A reliable transport facility (guaranteed delivery for synchronous messages)
• A consistent API shared by each platform
• An expandable server

Active Gateway ActiveX control (AGCtrl) can be used in any ActiveX-compatible application.

Our product offering includes :

• A software development kit (SDK) with all necessary tools and documentation (shipped with a fully operational version of the server)
• A one-year subscription to the Aldea Business Partner program (ABP) including quarterly software and documentation updates
• A server and its ActiveX and DLL clients (since only concurrent accesses to the server are logged, you can install as many clients as you wish)
• A set of server extensions (access to external databases, text file production, etc.)
