Installing ADMT version 1 over ADMT version 2
ADMT version 1 installs over and overwrites ADMT version 2 without warning.
Option files provide the operations and parameters for a migration in a separate file so that they do not have to be typed at the command prompt. Option files are useful during long migrations when a parallel domain is created and objects are migrated over a period of time. Objects such as users and groups can be migrated early in the migration process and updated throughout. You can use migration files to update objects without retyping information at the command prompt.
You can either create a single option file that contains sections for each operation or create separate option files with unique settings for each operation.
The format for each option file is similar to an .ini file. Many of the operations in ADMT need to be repeated for each task. The parameters and operations can be identical. You can create one option file for identical operations and parameters. The first section specifies operations and parameters that apply to all tasks. Subsequent sections are task-specific.
The following is an example of an option file in which HB-ACCT is the source domain and HAY-BUV.TLD is the target domain. HB-ACCT is also the name of the target organizational unit to which the accounts migrate.
Because the specified actions for RenameOption and ConflictOptions are the default actions, they do not have to be specified.
Options can be commented out by a adding a semicolon at the beginning of a line.
Note
Duplicate Operations in the Command Line
If an operation is specified more than once, the last value overrides the previous value or values. The only exception is includename, which can be used multiple times.
Successful commands result in an "operation completed" message. If this message does not appear after entering a command, check the migration log for more information on failures that may have occurred.
The ADMT Agent Process Continues to Run
If a script or command calls the ADMT agent and is then stopped, the Admtagnt.exe process continues to run. Any attempt to start a migration process that uses the agent results in a "Migration in Process" error. To fix this problem, you can wait six minutes for the ADMT agent to time out or you can open Task Manager and end the Admtagnt.exe process.
