  12. When the shot is setup to your liking, click on the golfer or press the space bar on your keyboard to bring up the swing meter.
  13. The Traditional 2-Click and 3-Click meters in Golden Bear Challenge function exactly like the swing meters in Jack Nicklaus 5, and in most other golf simulations.

You can display the swing meter in any of several ways. Press the space bar or Enter key; click the mouse cursor on the golfer, or choose the swing meter icon in the Game Task Bar. You will now be ready to swing, and the next actions will cause the golfer to hit the ball, unless you choose Practice Swing in the Game Task Bar.

NOTE: These instructions are for right-handed players. Reverse direction for left-handed players.

Using the mouse, the player initiates the swing by positioning the mouse cursor over the swing meter or the golfer and pressing the left mouse button. The swing meter moves clockwise towards the top of the meter. At the top of the meter, you will notice a marking that represents the power level of your upcoming shot. Depending on the meter you are using, you will try to release or press the mouse button at the exact moment that the swing meter crosses over this marking.

If the player hits the power marking perfectly, the result will be very accurate distance on the upcoming shot. If the player clicks too early, missing the marking on the left, then the upcoming shot will have less power and will not travel as far as the player planned. If the player clicks too late, missing the marking on the right, then the upcoming shot will have more power and will travel farther than the player planned.

After clicking to determine the power level of the upcoming shot, the swing meter reverses direction and moves counterclockwise towards the bottom of the meter. At the bottom of the meter, you will notice a marking that represents the "direction" of your upcoming shot. You will try to press the mouse button at the exact moment that the swing meter crosses over this marking.

If the player hits the direction marking perfectly, the result will be very accurate direction on the upcoming shot. If the player clicks too early, missing the marking on the left, then the upcoming shot will hook to the left. If the player clicks too late, missing the marking on the right, then the upcoming shot will fade to the right.

NOTE: For keyboard players, the space bar is used to click on the swing meters.

Traditional 2-Click Meter: To start your swing with the 2-Click Meter, click the mouse button and hold. The swing meter will move clockwise towards the power marking at the top of the meter. Just before the power marking, release the mouse button. A red line will appear, indicating where you released. Try to time the release of the mouse button so that the red line is as close as possible to the power marking. After you release the mouse button, the swing meter will reverse direction and move counterclockwise towards the direction marking at the bottom of the meter. Just before the direction marking, click the mouse button again. A red line will appear, indicating where you clicked. Try to time the click of the mouse button so that the red line is as close as possible to the direction marking.

Traditional 3-Click Meter: To start your swing with the 3-Click Meter, click the mouse button and release. The swing meter will move clockwise towards the power marking at the top of the meter. Just before the power marking, click the mouse button again. A red line will appear, indicating where you clicked the second time. Try to time the second clicking of the mouse button so that the red line is as close as possible to the power marking. After you click the mouse button the second time, the swing meter will reverse direction and move counterclockwise towards the direction marking at the bottom of the meter. Just before the direction marking, click the mouse button a third time. A red line will appear, indicating where you clicked the mouse button the third time. Try to time the final click of the mouse button so that the red line is as close as possible to the direction marking.

NOTE: If you select putter as a club and want to switch back to a wedge or other club, click on the "Shot Options" button on the task bar at the very bottom of the screen and click on "Full Swing Meter". Now you will have the wedge or other club in your hand instead of the putter.

Enjoy!
