Now this is cool; its software that will integrate with your existing TV capture card in your PC and allow you to record television programs. It sits conveniently in your taskbar and can translate back and forth between English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Russian, Japanese, simplified and traditional Chinese, and Korean. The authors claim new languages are being added all the time and its certainly a great way to get the meanings of foreign language words and phrases. One stand out point is the translation into character-based language such as Japanese, Its ad supported in a fairly benign way through a panel offering the Translation Booths professional translation services and as they point out, this free translation software should not be relied on for mission critical translations. The software requires you to register a username and password at the Web site (free) and be connected to the Internet.

Heres a way to not only manage your time better, but also bill the customer for those hours more accurately. It has the ability to create multiple projects, various rates and activities in the database and then track an unlimited number of entries and generate reports and search through them, etc. It also allows you to set reminders for specific tasks or actions. Theres an ample help file included and the interface is simple and intuitive. Other features include the ability to export to an Excel spreadsheet or comma delimited text file for easy importation into other software, and theres also password protection for sensitive data.

Like a cross between IRC, Paltalk, Messenger and a dating site, Hangout Spot allows you to find and get dating matches in your part of the world area or just meet new friends and chat in chat rooms. Its based around the Web site where you can search for your perfect match, but by using the software you get voice chat, Web cam sharing, message boards and more. You can upload your photo and manage your profile online as well as sending private messages, ranking other members (hot or not), and searching for music.

Not a particularly sophisticated chess program, but sometimes simple is all you need. With varying levels of difficulty and the ability to take moves back, its easy to use and well suited to teaching an absolute beginner the rudiments of this noble game. Designed as a promotion for Novabits software services, but a nice freebie anyhow.
