Upgrade Properties

This is another option that is accessible through the PLAYER menu. The rules and tricks regarding the upgrade properties are almost identical to those for the unit properties. On the other hand, where the unit costs can only be raised to 2,550, the upgrade costs can rise well over 25,000. This provides the ultimate protection against the development of unwanted structures, spells, or military upgrades.

An advanced example of how this can be useful is as follows: First, the editor places one skeleton unit as a color group's only starting defense. Using the Unit Properties menu, the editor gives the skeleton unit more hit points, higher visual range, more basic and piercing damage, and more armor. Now, skeletons can only be brought into a mission in play through the use of the spell, RAISE DEAD. Now, using the Upgrade Properties menu, the editor makes the cost of studying the RAISE DEAD spell so outrageously high that the player, or computer, could never dream of having that many resources. This allows the player to keep the super-unit from the start of the game and covers every possibility of an attempt to gain another skeleton of his or her own.
