Here are seventeen new Q & A's for you on a wide range of subjects from Hardware and Networking to QuickTime and ToolBox:

  • The differences between BitMaps and Textures are explained in a Q &A that appears in QuickDraw 3D.

  • A listing of all the 'mach' Gestalt values for recent Macintosh models is supplied in response to a developer's request in Hardware.

  • A question regarding Open Transport's 'qlen' limit is answered in Networking.

  • Platforms & Tools has three new Q & A's this month, where issues regarding E.T.O. and MacApp are addressed.

  • QuickTime Music Architecture has a new Q & A regarding headers.

  • QuickTime Components has two fresh Q & A's, one on Derived Media Handlers and the other on Movie Import components.

  • Always a popular area, QuickTime For Windows, has four new Q & A's. Topics include: mixing music tracks; sound hiccups under Win95; playing compressed WAVE files on the Mac; and handling cross-platform sounds.

  • Three new Q & A's appear in ToolBox, on topics including resizing a window when holding down the Macintosh's 'Command' key; the limitations of ShowDragHilite; and Drag Manager & the 600 (procNotFound) Error.
