Dallas, Texas..Starplex Amphitheater, August 20, 1999..Sold Out.

It was a hot Texas Night, and the Scorpions waited until a little before sunset to start their set. Klaus, Rudy, and Matthias were a little flat, and the set came off a little like a Vegas review. The new stuff sounded like Disco, but the metal starved crowd loved it anyway, as they saved the old hits to the end. I can see why the Scorps are thinking of making this their last tour. They looked bored.

Fifteen minutes later, the Motley F,,,ing Crue hurricane, tornado, tidal wave, earthquake, and meteor hit. Geeeeez, if these guys are as sober as they say they are, then they are drinking blood or something.

For the next two hours they beat the living pulp out of the crowd. Shout At The Devil, Looks That Kill, Too Young To Fall In Love, and even the corny Home Sweet Home Sounded as fresh as ever. No down time, no bull shit, just two hours of serious, bone crunching, ass churning metal. It was almost like a Priest or Motorhead show.

Nikki Sixx still looks and acts seventeen, with more tattoos than ever. His chiropractor must love him, the way he still bangs his head. The war paint and the leather are back, which was way, way cool. Vince Neil sounds as good as ever. Mick Mars is still the great technician, wasting no energy on showboating, but kicking your ass any way.

Randy Castillo is a great addition on the skins.

The light show is really scaled down, but the sound is pretty clean, and they cover up for the low budget with lots of smoke.

Highlight of the night, Girls, Girls, Girls, with strippers and confetti.

Well worth the forty bucks...Do not miss it!!
