San Francisco Peace TreatyA peace conference was held in San Francisco in 1951. Japan signed the San Francisco Peace Treaty with 48 other countries to bring an end to their state of war with Japan. The treaty took effect the following year in April, and Japan regained its sovereignty as an independent country. |
