The Washington Conference
After the end of World War I, an international conference (the Washington Conference) was held between 1921 and 1922 at the proposal of U.S. President Warren Harding. The purpose of the conference was to discuss the limitation of naval arms and issues regarding the Pacific and the Far East. Japan dispatched Kato Tomosaburo and Shidehara Kijuro as plenipotentiaries.
