Famous scenic areas: Three Most Beautiful Places in Japan (Amano-Hashidate)
Amano-Hashidate is located in Kyoto Prefecture on the Japan Sea coast. It is a sandbar about 2 miles long that was created over the ages by sand that was carried by the tides of Miyazu Bay and the wind. The name means "heavenly bridge" and Amano-Hashidate has long been loved as one of Japan's scenic spots. Many poems have been written about it since ancient times.
