Children's Day

Although this is a national holiday called Children's Day, it began as the Tango-no-Sekku, or Boy's Festival. It is celebrated by families with sons. Samurai armor and dolls are displayed in the home, while carp streamers are flown outside the house. People pray for the healthy and strong growth of boys.
