Arcana | |
Version: 0.1 By: Chris Herborth E-mail: chrish@qnx.com Web page: Available Release Date: When it's done. |
Info Last Modified: 5/22/97 Requires BeOS version: AA:PR License: Shareware Cost: Unknown Source Available?: No |
Description: Arcana is an object-oriented role-playing
game engine for creating tile-based (like
Ultima ][ through Ultima V) games,
featuring an embedded programming language
(Python), 32-bit graphics, multithreaded
actor AI and lots more. Arcana will let
almost anyone create their own computer
role-playing games in any genre (Fantasy,
Science-fiction, Horror, Wild West,
whatever) and should be usable by people
with little or no programming experience,
without limiting ace coders. Unfortunately,
it's still in the design stage... although
that should change this summer!

Info Last Modified: 2/24/97 Requires BeOS version: DR8 License: Freeware Cost: Source Available?: No |
Description: Becca (Be Empire Client Control Architecture) will be the first full GUI Empire client.
Empire is one of the most complete strategic wargames around and the best thing is you can play it over the internet with real people as opponents for free. Check out http://www.empire.net/~children/ for more info on the game.
As the name says, Becca should be extendable with your own plug-in modules for enhanced gameplay.
Since it is still in specification/design phase any suggestions or wild ideas are welcome

Info Last Modified: 5/16/97 Requires BeOS version: DR8 License: Freeware Cost: Source Available?: Yes |
Description: Wolf3D for the BeBox! Yes, its not as nice as Doom, but the
source is freely distributable. The biggest hangup right now
is that I can't figure out the sprite format. If anyone out
there knows anything about the original Wolf3D file formats,
please contact me. It's scarry running around with all these
invisible guards.
*************************************************************
I'm still looking for the sprite format, so if anyone has it,
and wants to help, _PLEASE_ email me. I'm stuck.

GenEm | |
Version: .19 By: Brian Verre E-mail: wverre@execpc.com Web page: Available Release Date: In progress/NA |
Info Last Modified: 5/24/97 Requires BeOS version: AA:PR License: Freeware Cost: Source Available?: No |
Description: I am proud to announce the third project in my series of emulators for
BeOS. The brainchild of Markus Gietzen, GenEm has recently been resumed
after a number of months of inactivity. Together, we are developing a
portable, multi-processor SEGA Genesis/MD emulator (the only one available,
BTW). Given the amount of work necessary to move 50,000+ lines of i486 asm
to native PPC code, I can not estimate a completion date at this time.
(Trademarks held by their respective owners, and I will not provide you
with ROM images.)

Pleco Flight Simulator | |
Version: 1.0 By: Michael Love E-mail: pleco@macconnect.com Web page: (none) Release Date: Late Summer '97 |
Info Last Modified: 5/22/97 Requires BeOS version: AA:PR License: Shareware Cost: $10 Source Available?: No |
Description: For DR9 (no option in entry form for that). A flight simulator
about the graphic level of Flight Unlimited, but with the cool
navigation and control features of Micro$oft Flight Simulator.
Will use satellite images from EROS (part of USGS) with actual
elevations and even the actual airport graphics for the areas
it covers (major metropolitan ones, Chicago, Boston, New York,
and a bunch of places in California). The areas are connected,
however, though there aren't any airports outside of them.
All the usual extras, ILS, VOR, Air Traffic Control, along with
lots of viewpoints (of course), and a special new feature that
gives you actual pilot-like assignments (as if you were a real
commercial pilot). Currently I've just about finished the design and am waiting
for DR9 to start coding. Graphics are just some 3D models I'll
do on a particularly lazy weekend, and the EROS things I can
download when needed. Looks pretty cool from the plans.
