The following new features have been added in Claris Home Page 3.0.

FileMaker Connection Assistant

Create an entire site that accesses a FileMaker Pro database for data entry and data viewing.
Choose from a list of existing background styles or define your own for a database site.
Link a form on a Web page directly to a database to collect data input from people who visit your site or to display data from a live database.
Control access during data input (insert, update, delete, search, and sort are supported options).
Automatically receive confirmation when data has been inserted, modified, or deleted by site visitors.
Use FileMaker Pro CDML libraries to make database forms.

Frame Assistant

Create a site in Claris Home Page that uses a navigational frame layout to display all the pages in your site.

Other site or page assistants

Create fully functioning Web sites and Web pages. Choices include assistants for standard sites, school sites, personal sites, newsletters, presentations, and reports.

Page and site templates

Create professional looking Web pages and sites (for example, a product brochure, a family tree, a child's Web page, and so on) based on template sample files that come with Claris Home Page.
Save a page you've created in the page_template folder and then access it later through the New dialog box.

Improved site management

Use the Site Editor to:

globally change features such as page background across multiple pages in a site.
upload or download a site to a Web server hosted by an Internet service provider or intranet Web server.
create a media folder (if one doesn't already exist) for storing referenced image and auxiliary files (such as QuickTime movies) and automatically consolidate all referenced files into it.
delete files from a Web site or an Internet service provider server.
verify and fix broken links and references.

Searching enhancements

Search and replace text across an entire site (files need not be open if you are working in the Site Editor) or across all open sites.
Search in Edit HTML Source mode, for example, to globally change references to an image or auxiliary file.

Display enhancements

Test what the pages you design will look like with different resolutions (for example, 640x480).
Display or hide invisible characters in Edit Page mode such as text formatting character or iconic. representations of anchors, HTML tags, and so on.

Preview in Browser mode enhancements

Preview in either Netscape Navigator or Microsoft Internet Explorer by choosing them from the toolbar while using Claris Home Page.
Start all installed Web browsers to preview Web pages without leaving Claris Home Page.

Frame enhancements

Easily create complex navigational frame layouts with the Frame Assistant.
View the contents of frames in Frame Page mode without having to start a Web browser application.

Table enhancements

Define and change background colors or images in individual cells or an entire table.
Select multiple cells and apply settings to all of them at once.
Span table cells easily with improved visual feedback.
Resize tables with improved editing interface.

Graphics enhancements

Have the color palette automatically change to Netscape 216 colors when incoming graphics are converted to GIF format.
Align multiple images on a page.
Align an image to left or right so that text flows around it.

Form enhancements

Create more than one form on a page.
Specify CGI scripts for each form in its Form Area Object Editor instead of in the Document Options dialog box.

HTML enhancements

Prevent text from being stripped out during HTML processing.
Add extra HTML and comments directly to text in Edit Page mode.

Improved color palettes

Use the following color palettes:

Safety palette - 216 colors.
Rainbow palette - 81 colors.
Default palette - 9 colors.
Default Text - 9 colors.
Custom colors (Windows).
Apple HSL (Macintosh).
Apple RGB (Macintosh).

Library enhancements

Quickly access library objects in the redesigned side-by-side library window.
Create your own libraries and open them from the Library submenu.
Use library buttons to insert library objects in pages and apply library objects as backgrounds.
Use the reorganized libraries that come with Claris Home Page to quickly find backgrounds, banners, buttons, and so on.
Use items from the new media libraries (such as QuickTime movies, QuickTime VR, Java applets, animation, and so on) to enhance your Web pages.

FTP (File Transfer Protocol) enhancements

Use either active or passive FTP when uploading to an Internet service provider server.
Use Claris Home Page to browse your files on an FTP server, making changes to them or deleting them.
Download multiple files or a folder of files all at once.
Upload selected files in your site individually.

Menu enhancements

Find commands quickly and easily in new Windows- and Macintosh-specific menus.

Keyboard shortcut enhancements

Work more efficiently than ever using numerous new keyboard shortcuts.

Internet Config support
(Macintosh)

Use settings from your Internet Config setup (for example, your Internet service provider password information) when using Claris Home Page. For more information, see the documentation that came with your Internet Config software.

Improved Java applet preview (Macintosh)

Display Java applets in Preview Page mode.
