WASHINGTON -- Oct. 30, 1996 -- Borland International Inc. announced today that it has named its unreleased Java application development tool -- formerly code-named Latte -- Open JBuilder. The company also announced that it intends to make a pre-release version of Open JBuilder available for evaluation by customers on its web site before Dec. 31, 1996. Both announcements were made today at the Software Development East '96 trade show.

A beta copy of Open JBuilder is planned to be available on Borland's web site before Dec. 31, 1996. Customers will also be able to access detailed information about the product, including white papers, product fact sheets, and an evaluator's guide. Customers can access Borland's web site at /. The final shipping version of Open JBuilder is scheduled to be available in early 1997. Final pricing has not yet been determined.
