Year 2000 Compliance

As the year 2000 approaches, computer users around the world are growing more concerned about how computer systems will handle the transition. Hewlett-Packard Company is working hard to enable our customers to achieve a smooth year 2000 transition.

All HP Pavilion PC hardware is NSTL certified as Year 2000 Compliant and is expected to handle the rollover to the year 2000 without any problems. In addition to passing a stringent set of corporate criteria, our PC hardware also complies with the National Software Testing Laboratories (NSTL) testing requirements for Y2K compliance. Our PC hardware along with our BIOS (the software that helps the operating system communicate with the hardware) and our Real-time Clock all support the HP Pavilion PC's ability to recognize four-digit dates necessary to successfully change to the year 2000.

Software Applications

Since there are so many different software applications that can be used on an HP Pavilion, HP recommends that users check with the application vendor for that particular software. Most software applications get the date and time from the operating system, but some only store the last two digits of the year. If you have concerns about your favorite software or about any software applications preinstalled on the HP Pavilion PC, contact the software vendor to determine how the year 2000 will affect their software programs.
