HP Palmtops and Year 2000
As the year 2000 approaches, computer users around the world are growing more concerned about how computer systems will handle the transition. The basic problem is that hardware and software that use a two-digit format for the year may roll, for example, from 1999 to 1900. This issue should not cause major problems for HP Palmtop users.

The Year 2000 information about HP palmtop PCs is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.
Applications and Operating Systems in the Palmtop PC
"HP's applications and operating systems partners have assured HP that their products are Year 2000 compliant. Users of the DOS-based palmtops will need to note that:
- Although MS-DOS cannot display a 4-digit date when using the DIR command )internal to COMMAND.COM), but the files will be sorted correctly. Example: In year 2000, the date displayed at the prompt, when you perform the DIR command, is shown as 01-01-00. This refers to year 2000, and not 1900.
- MS-DOS cannot accept 2-digit date changes for the year 2000 and beyond. To enter the correct date, a 4-digit year must be entered to the DATE command (internal to COMMAND.COM). Failure to enter the correct 4-digit date will result in an "Invalid Date" error.
- any application that bypasses the OS and BIOS may not receive the correct date if it is obtained directly from the Real Time Clock.
In conclusion, HP encourages you, our customers, to work directly with your application partner to ensure the product's Year 2000 compliance."
