Hewlett-Packard’s Year 2000 Commitment To You and Our Other Customers
HP is committed to helping you reach your own Y2K readiness goals. To this end, we have evaluated more than 100,000 of our current and past products to make sure they comply with the tough companywide standards we’ve set for Year 2000 readiness. We tested all new products that process date information and we’ve posted the results of those compliance tests for you on our Year 2000 web site at http://www.hp.com/year2000. We encourage you to check the readiness of all of your HP products as soon as possible.
The good news you’ll find there: tens of thousands of HP products do not process date-related data and thousands more meet HP’s definition for Year 2000 compliance. This includes all of our DeskJet printers and all but one of our LaserJet printers (older versions of the LaserJet 3100).
For active, standard products that aren’t compliant, we will make the required Y2K update available for you. In some cases, it may be a simple matter of following written instructions to reset a personal computer’s internal clock by yourself. Or in other cases, you may need to download and install a software "patch." In many cases, we will provide these Y2K updates free of charge, even if the HP product is not under support or warranty. We’ll also make available for sale any additional hardware, software or services that you’d need to make the update work.
For some obsolete HP products, HP will not provide Y2K updates. Most of these products are older ones that we no longer sell or support.
HP will also do its best to provide information about the readiness of other companies’ products that we sell. We will provide information about the readiness of these products to you when we know it, but those companies are ultimately responsible for their own products’ readiness. You should contact them to verify compliance information and for any necessary updates.
We’ve made every effort to ensure the accuracy of our own product testing. However, your environment is likely to be different from our own laboratory testing environment, so it’s your responsibility to check the readiness of your HP products in your own environment. The information provided above constitutes a "Year 2000 Readiness Disclosure" for purposes of the U.S. Year 2000 Information and Readiness Disclosure Act. It is subject to change without notice and is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.
We encourage you to read the attached information, and to visit our Year 2000 website soon and often for the latest information about Y2K. We look forward to helping you meet your own Y2K readiness goals.
