To correct an underexposed or overexposed image, you will use the image-adjustment tools found in the Tone Curve dialog box.

Overexposed images should be altered by inverting the settings used to alter underexposed images.

Click Image, Adjust, Tone Curve.

The response curve that you see is a visual representation of the balance between shadows, midtones, and highlights. By adjusting the points on the curve, you alter the distance between the lightest and darkest pixels in the image.

  1. Click the Open button.
  2. Choose LIGHTEN.CRV from the file list in the Load Tone Curve Files dialog box, and click Open.
  3. Click OK.
