This workshop shows you how to remove redeye from a photograph of a person or pet.

Use the Zoom tool to magnify the redeye area.

  1. Click the Zoom tool.
  2. Position the Zoom tool cursor over the redeye area, and click to zoom in.

Use a mask selection to isolate the red pixels. This lets you apply corrections to the red area without affecting the rest of your image.

Click the Circle Mask Tool.

  1. On the Property Bar, do the following:
    Set the Mask style to Normal.
    Enable the Anti-Aliasing button.
    Click the Additive Mode button.
  2. Drag a circular mask selection around the pupil area.

You are now ready to remove the redeye. To do this, you will use the Color Hue filter.

  1. Click Image menu, Adjust, Color Hue.
  2. In the Color Hue dialog box, enable the Shadows, Midtones, Highlights, and Preserve Luminance check boxes.
  3. Set the Step slider to 100.
  4. Click the More Cyan button.
  5. Click OK to apply the changes to the original image.

To restore the image to view the changes you have made do the following:

  1. Click Mask menu, Remove to remove the mask.
  2. Click View menu, Zoom 100% to view the image at the size it was before you corrected the redeye.
