Welcome to Corel PHOTO-PAINT!

This tutorial introduces you to the exciting new Corel PHOTO-PAINT interface, and familiarizes you with terms you need to know.

When describing the location or appearance of features in Corel PHOTO-PAINT, this tutorial assumes that your system is using default settings. The default settings are preset options built into the application. As you become more familiar with Corel PHOTO-PAINT, you can customize the default settings.

You can customize your Status Bar. Simply right-click the Status Bar when any image is open and choose Customize from the pop-up menu.

The on-screen Color Palette is used to choose paint, paper, and fill colors. The paint color is used by the Paint tool to apply color, and is used by the Line and Shape Tools as an outline color. The paper color refers to the color of an image's background. The fill color is used by the Fill tool to "paint" areas on images. It also determines the color inside rectangles, ellipses, and polygons you draw.

The colors in the on-screen Color Palette depend on the palette or color-matching system you select from the View menu's Color Palette flyout.

To see the full range of colors in the Color Palette, click one of the scroll buttons, or drag the Color Palette away from the edges of the Application Window and resize it by dragging its edges.
