The Document Info dialog box displays general information about an image, including:

filename

width and height

resolution

image size in memory and on disk

file format

sub-format

color mode

number of current objects

object status (changed/unchanged)

To view this information

Click the button on the Standard toolbar.

The Image Info Roll-Up displays the image's primary and secondary color model. Also displayed are the cursor's coordinates as it moves around the image. The values displayed in the Image Info Roll-Up vary according to the active tool.

To open the Image Info Roll-Up

Click View menu, Roll-Ups, Info.

Information about image tone is displayed in a histogram. A histogram is a graphical chart that represents the range of shadows, midtones, and highlights in an image and is used to diagnose exposure problems.

To view the histogram

Click Image menu, Histogram.

Note

The histogram is also displayed in the Level Equalization and Sample/Target Balance dialog boxes, which are used to perform more advanced color correction.

System information lets you view details about your computer, monitor, printers, and program and system files. For example, you can use this feature to see how much available space you have on your hard drive before saving an image. System information can be saved in a text file called SYSINFO.TXT.

To view system information

  1. Click Help menu, About Corel PHOTO-PAINT.
  2. Click System Info.
  3. Choose an information category from the Choose A Category list box.

Use the Deskew Crop tool to select an area of the image to be cropped.

To crop an image with the Deskew Crop tool

  1. Click the Deskew Crop tool.
  2. Select an area on the image.
  3. Drag the handles of the highlighting box to fine-tune the cropping area.
  4. Right-click inside the highlighting box.
  5. Click Crop To Selection.

The sample image cropped to include only a portion of the original image.

You can increase or decrease the size of an image using the Resample dialog box.

To resize an image

  1. Click Image menu, Resample.
  2. Choose a unit of measurement from the Units list box.
  3. Type values in the Width and Height boxes.

Note

Enable the Maintain Aspect Ratio check box to prevent the image from being stretched or distorted when resized.

Stitching lets you combine two images together to create a third image.

Click first to open a sample image.

Click second to open another sample image.

To stitch two images together

  1. Click Image menu, Stitch.
    In the Select Images dialog box, both sample images appear.
  2. Click Add All to add the images to the Selected Files window.
  3. Click OK.
  4. In the Edit Overlap dialog box, move the Vertical and Horizontal Adjust sliders to align the images.
    A yellow bar indicates the relative position of this overlap.
  5. When the images are correctly aligned, click OK.

The two sample images stitched together forming a single new image.

The two images must be in the 24-bit (RGB) color mode.

Images can be duplicated to ensure that the original image is preserved.

To duplicate an image

  1. Select an image in the Image Window.
  2. Click Image menu, Duplicate.

Images can be flipped horizontally or vertically in a single step.

To flip an image horizontally

Click Image menu, Flip, Horizontally.

To flip an image vertically

Click Image menu, Flip, Vertically.

Images can be rotated by several different fixed amounts.

To rotate an image 90 degrees clockwise

Click Image menu, Rotate, 90° Clockwise.

To rotate an image 90 degrees counterclockwise

Click Image menu, Rotate, 90° Counterclockwise.

To rotate an image 180 degrees

Click Image menu, Rotate, 180°.

Images can be rotated precisely using the Custom Rotate dialog box.

To rotate an image precisely

  1. Click Image menu, Rotate, Custom.
  2. Type a value in the Angle box.
  3. Click one of the following:
    Clockwise, rotates your image in a clockwise direction.
    Counterclockwise, rotates your image in a counterclockwise direction.
  4. Do any of the following:
    Enable the Maintain Original Image Size check box to keep the image size the same.
    Enable the Anti-aliasing check box to prevent jagged edges.
  5. Open the Paper Color picker and click a color.

The Deskew command is used to straighten crooked images.
