You can create a fiery effect to text using the techniques described in this tutorial.

Fill the image with a black fill and add a text object.

  1. Click the Fill Tool from the Toolbox.
  2. Right-click the black color swatch from the on-screen Color Palette, and click inside the Image Window to fill it with a black, uniform fill.
  3. Click the Text tool from the Toolbox.
  4. In the Property Bar, select a font from the Font Name box, e.g., Times New Roman.
  5. Type 96 in the Font Size box.
  6. Click the Bold and the Italic button.
  7. Click the Render Text To Mask button.
  8. Click inside the Image Window to set an insertion point for the text, and type some text.
  9. Click anywhere outside the text to render it to a mask.

Align the mask selection to the center of the page, and create an object from it.

  1. Click Mask menu, Align.
  2. In the Mask Align dialog box, enable the horizontal and vertical Center check boxes, and click OK.
  3. Click Object menu, Create, Object: Cut Selection.

Select the background, hide the text object, and apply the Wind filter to the background twice.

  1. Ensure that the tab for the Objects Docker window appears in the Application window.
    If it doesn't, click View menu, Dockers, Objects.
  2. Drag the tab of the Objects Docker window fully across the CorelTUTOR window.
    When you release the mouse, the Objects Docker window is undocked from the Application window so you can see it and CorelTUTOR at the same time.
  3. In the Objects Docker window, click the thumbnail of the Background.
  4. Click the Eye icon next to the text object to hide it.
  5. Click Effects menu, 2D Effects, Wind.
  6. In the Wind dialog box, type 98 in the Opacity box.
  7. Type 27 in the Strength box.
  8. Type 90 in the Direction box, and click OK.
  9. Click Effects menu, Repeat, Repeat Wind.

Apply the Impressionist filter, the Gaussian Blur filter, and the Ripple filter to the image background.

  1. Click Effects menu, Artistic, Impressionist.
  2. In the Impressionist dialog box, type 4 in the Horizontal and Vertical Scatter boxes, and click OK.
  3. Click Effects menu, Blur, Gaussian Blur.
  4. In the Gaussian Blur dialog box, type 2 in the Radius box, and click OK.
  5. Click Effects menu, 2D Effects, Ripple.
  6. In the Ripple dialog box, click the Single Wave button.
  7. Type 9 in the Period box.
  8. Type 1 in the Amplitude box.
  9. Type 90 in the Direction box, and click OK.

Convert the image to 8-bit Paletted mode, using the Black Body palette to add fire-like colors to the image. Convert the image back to 24-bit RGB mode to continue fine-tuning the fiery text effect.

  1. Click Image menu, Convert To, Paletted (8-bit).
  2. The warning, "Merging all the objects with the background may give a more accurate conversion. Do you wish to flatten the image?" appears. Click No.
  3. In the Convert To Paletted dialog box, choose Black Body from the Palette list box.
  4. Choose None from the Dithering list box, and click OK.
  5. Click Image menu, Convert To, RGB Color (24-bit).
  6. Click No when the warning appears.

Blur the image slightly, select the text object, and duplicate it.

  1. Click Effects menu, Blur, Motion Blur.
  2. In the Motion Blur dialog box, type 15 in the Distance box.
  3. Click the Ignore Pixels Outside Image button.
  4. Type 270 in the Direction box, and click OK.
  5. In the Objects Docker window, click the thumbnail of the text object.
  6. Click Object menu, Duplicate.
  7. In the Objects Docker window, click the thumbail of the text object that is listed directly above the Background.

Hide the duplicated text object temporarily, and fill the letters of the original text object with a blue fill. Apply the Whirlpool filter to the object.

  1. Click the Eye icon next to the text object that is located at the top of the list in the Objects Docker window.
  2. Click the Fill tool from the Toolbox.
  3. Right-click the bright blue color swatch from the on-screen Color Palette.
  4. Click inside each letter of the text object until each letter is filled with the blue color.
  5. Click Effects menu, 2D Effects, Whirlpool.
  6. In the Whirlpool dialog box, type 100 in the Spacing box.
  7. Type 9 in the Smear Length, Twist, and Streak Detail boxes.
  8. Enable the Warp check box, and click OK.

Make the other text object visible, and merge all objects with the background.

  1. Click the Eye icon next to the hidden object in the Objects Docker window.
  2. Click Object menu, Combine, Combine All Objects With Background.
