edges of scanned line art images using the retouching techniques
described in this tutorial.

Use the Paint tool
to remove imperfections in a scanned line art image caused by
dust, scratches, or missing pixels.
- Click the black color swatch from the on-screen Color Palette.
- Click the Paint tool from the Toolbox.
- Paint in any obviously missing lines or spots of the black
areas of the image.
- Click the white color swatch from the on-screen Color Palette.
- Paint over any dark blemishes in the white areas of the image.

Convert the image
to grayscale color mode and apply the Gaussian Blur filter
to soften the jagged edges of the image.
- Click Image menu, Convert To, Grayscale (8-bit).
- Click Effects menu, Blur, Gaussian Blur.
- In the Gaussian Blur dialog box, type 1 in the Radius box,
and click OK.

Sharpen the edges
of the image with the Threshold filter so that the edges don't
appear too blurry.
- Click Image menu, Transform, Threshold.
- In the Threshold dialog box, click the To Black button.
- Type 165 in the Threshold box.
- Click the Preview button
to preview the effect.
- Continue adjusting the Threshold value until
you achieve the desired amount of edge sharpening, and then click
OK.
