In this workshop you'll
see how easily text and graphics can be used in a sample calendar
drawing.

Using the Duplicate command you can create offset copies of existing
objects. The new Smart Duplicate feature lets you repeat a pattern.
- Select a maple leaf on the drawing with the Pick tool.
- Click Edit menu, Duplicate.
- Move the duplicate object down and to the right.
- Scale the duplicate leaf by 25% by dragging one of the corner
handles toward the inside.
- Click the leaf again to display the rotate and skew handles.
- Move the center of rotation.
- Rotate the object.
- Click Edit menu, Duplicate.
- Repeat step 6 several times to create the appearance of leaves
falling.

Using the text tool
you can modify any of the text that appears in the calendar. The
Edit text command provides a dialog box to change selected text.
- Click the Text tool and select the
year 1997.
- Click Text menu, Edit Text.
- Using the Edit Text dialog box change the year to 1998.
- Click OK to apply the changes to the text.

Using the Color
Palette is the quickest and easiest way to fill or adjust the
color of objects. With color mixing you can add color in increments
of 10%.
- Using the Pick tool select the red
and yellow fountain filled background object.
- Select the sun object.
- Hold CTRL and click a dark blue color from the Color Palette
to tint the background a 10% darker shade of blue.
