Creating advanced effects
can be performed quickly and easily using the Interactive Distort
tool.
This tutorial will provide step-by-step instruction of how to
create a cool distortion effect as well as provide you with a
graphic displaying the result.
When you have completed all the steps the final result should
appears as follows:

Use any of the basic
drawing tools to create an object.
- Open the Object flyout and click
the Polygon tool.
- Create a polygon.

After creating your
object you need to apply a fill.
- Select the polygon with the Interactive Fill tool.
- Apply a conical fountain fill.

After filling the
polygon you need to convert it to a star.
- Select the polygon using the Polygon tool.
- Move one of the nodes on the side of the polygon inwards to
form a star shape.
- Using the Property Bar change the number of points on the
polygon to six.

Modify the star
by adding color.
- Select the polygon with the Interactive Fill tool.
- Apply a color to the end point by dragging a light color from
the color palette onto the end point handle.
- Alternate dark and light values by dragging colors from the
color palette onto the Interactive fill line surrounding the polygon.

Create the distortion
effect by using one of the new Interactive Distort effects.
- Open the Interactive flyout and click
the Distortion tool.
- Using the Interactive Distortion tool's Push and Pull option,
click and drag to the right to create a push effect.

Finalize the distort
effect by completing these next steps.
- Duplicate the object.
- Using the Interactive Distortion tool's Twister
option, click and twirl counterclockwise to twist the duplicated
shape.
- Place a black rectangle behind the two distorted shapes.
